CHAPTER MISSION STATEMENT:
To speak on behalf of agriculture in an intelligent, informative, direct, and truthful manner: to keep our members and the public informed about legislative activities pertaining to agriculture; to improve the public image of the agriculturalists and to raise agriculture awareness through educational programs.
California Women for Agriculture (CWA) was formed in 1975, in the Coachella Valley. The Salinas Valley Chapter was formed in 1977. The name was chosen to develop a cross section of members. In fact, the nucleus of the first chapter was made up of consumers, as well as farmers and ranchers. Today our membership is as diverse as the industry we represent; bankers, lawyers, accountants, marketing professionals, consumers, AND farmers and ranchers. With 20 chapters and 1,600-plus members across the state, CWA is the most active, all volunteer agricultural organization in the state, and members are actively engaged in public relations, education, and legislative advocacy on behalf of agriculture.

California Women for Agriculture is a great testament to what a group of dedicated women can contribute to their local communities. The Salinas Valley Chapter has been advocating for agriculture, providing many thousands of dollars in scholarships supporting women in agriculture. CWA is 100% volunteer and dedicates hundreds of hours for the Monterey & Santa Cruz Agriculture Counties.

It’s such a great feeling to be a part of the scholorship committee to review the candidates’ applications and choose the deserving recipients. I’m always inspired by the determination many of these women have to overcome hardships and the dedication they have to their studies and their families.

Volunteering for CWA to co-chair the annual San Francisco Trip has been a tremendous experience. Knowing that funds raised were due to hard work from a dedicated team for young women with college dreams is a plus.
